Grab your running shoes and join Team MK and Captain Waldon for a 10K4MK!
10K4MK Team Captain, Waldon Adams, is a 53-year-old native Washingtonian who turned to Miriam’s Kitchen for support when he experienced homelessness for nearly 3 decades. Like many of our guests at Miriam’s Kitchen, Waldon grew up struggling with severe chronic health issues, which led to substance abuse, and ultimately homelessness. With the support of Miriam’s Kitchen and a network of social services agencies in the community, Waldon was connected to permanent housing in 2010.
And now, with the stability of a home, Waldon started running as a way to recover from the trauma he experienced while living on the streets. Today — some fifteen marathons, twenty-five half-marathons, twenty 10Ks, twenty 5Ks, and thousands of miles later — Waldon wants to inspire others to find the strength he has found in running.
